Why make a shoe box?
God, the Creator of the universe, a poor, destitute child and a little shoe box of gifts make an awe inspiring combination. God using the simplest things of this world, a child and a shoe box, to work one of His greatest wonders. The miracle of a changed life, a heart touched, a smile that lights the world, a laugh that shatters the darkness. Hope to the hopeless, peace to the broken hearted, and Jesus received into a perishing heart.

How to make a shoe box:
- Pray for the child who will receive your box. Also, pray that God will direct you in what
to include in your box.
- Get a shoe box (these can be picked up at church)
- Look over a list of suggested items (remember, this is only a suggested list)
- Look over list of items not to be included (this is very important)
- Go shopping (Please buy items that are sturdy and will last for some time)
- Fill up your box (if you wrap the box please wrap the lid separately) Bring your box to
church on Sun. Nov. 16, 2008

Do not include in your box:
- Any kind of liquids (shampoos, liquid soaps, mouthwash, etc.)
- Medications (including antibiotic ointments, vitamins, aspirin, etc.)
- Weapons (this includes toy guns, pocket knives - real or toy- , etc.)
- Military (anything that resembles any kind of military including toys, pictures, etc.)
- Breakable items (glass, porcelain, mirrors, etc.)

Toys
Small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch A Sketch®, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries), Slinky®, etc.
School Supplies
Pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.
Hygine Items
Toothbrush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc.
Other
Hard candy and lollipops (please double bag all candy), mints, gum, T-shirts, socks, ball caps; sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries)
A Personl Note
In a separate envelope, you may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. (If you include your name and address, the child may write back.)
Do Not Include:
Used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food; out-of-date candy; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans
